Take action now! Support equal rights and justice for Jamaicans through a letter-writing action. You may wish to use the links provided below to display and print a sample letter.

STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH JAMAICA

Take action now on behalf of peace and justice in Jamaica by supporting the Amnesty International campaign behind the 2008 report “’Let them kill each other’: Public Security in Jamaica’s Inner-Cities."

Write a courteous, detailed appeal to the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Bruce Golding, and/or to officials in his administration whose work directly involves the human rights issues examined in AI's report.

Use the sample letter as a basis, or write your own, referring whenever possible to specifics of the report. Personal appeal adds impact. Email communication has its place, but when it comes to letter actions, we at AI generally recommend hard copy communication.

Please take a few moments of time to explain by letter your solidarity with the Jamaican people. Call attention to the need for the Jamaican government to take decisive action for human rights, which means quelling gun violence and rebuilding communities where citizens have access to the full range of human rights.

A one- or two-page letter in a business-sized envelope from the United States to Jamaica requires 94 cents postage.

Note: This campaign will run through the end of 2008.
